Rhett Seevers was born on February 7, 1997. His proud parents, Beth and Randy Seevers brought home their bundle of joy to join their family of four. At four months, they were devastated by the news that their little boy had severe cerebral palsy and would face a life full of challenges. They dove in headfirst and learned all they could about his disabilities.
On December 7, 2007, the “Runnin’ for Rhett Non-Profit Foundation” was formed. As a result, in the spring of 2008 a total of nearly 400 people in all were able to participate in the event. In March of 2009, over 550 volunteers, runners and walkers participated in the event. On March 15th, 2009, the very first “Runnin’ for Rhett” $5000 scholarship was awarded to Elk Grove resident and student, Ann Johnson. Rhett had many blessings and moved many people during his short life, but could not physically move by himself. He inspired so many people with his laugh and infectious smile that our goal is to let Rhett’s story inspire those who feel defeated, to uplift those who feel down and to encourage people to take that first step, like Beth did in the spring of 2005, get up and out and MOVE INTO LIFE.
